The first ever (and possibly the last!) single cask release from Grasmere Distillery. Generally we will be racking into our solera system rather than focusing on individual casks... This is a one-off for Still In Cask! We are a tiny, artisan single malt whisky distillery in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria. We make a black, sour mash, with roasted / brown / chocolate malts for a delicious sweetness in the new-make spirit. This is fermented slowly over two weeks and then double-distilled on small copper pot stills (1,000l and 500l). Our new-make has been filled into cabernet sauvignon STR American Oak, 225 litres, at 62% ABV. Custom toast with a heavy or "crocodile" char, for deeper access into the flavour layer of the wood. This whisky when bottled will be natural colour and unfiltered. Expect caramel, dried fruit, figs, and a dark chocolate treacle sweetness from the mash-bill. Heat cycles in our maturation store wobble between -5*C and +30*C.  There are 250 shares at £22.50 each, including a presentation box and individually numbered bottles (1 - 250) in a custom bottle. We aim to release at 4 years.
